The ICEsoft Contributor Agreement is a relatively standard open source contributor agreement. Once code is contributed, ICEsoft becomes legally responsible for it. We appreciate your consideration.
The "server" model refers to a thin client deployment where ICEpdf Pro is typically deployed as a PDF rendering engine within web-based application.

The "client" model is used when ICEpdf Pro is deployed as part of a Java "thick client" application that runs locally on a PC. In this model, every deployed instance of ICEpdf Pro counts as a client.
Most of the videos on ICEfaces.org are FLV (flash video) files.

The ICEfaces Components are licensed under the MPL open source license and can be used in your e-commerce application at no cost.

The ICEfaces EE Composite Components provided with ICEfaces EE are licensed as a commercial software upgrade with all ICEfaces EE Subscriptions.

Thanks.
If $500 is not an option then try to encode the PDF documents differently or omit using special characters if you have control over the generation of the PDF documents.
Looks like the open source version is not able to render some of the characters. Seems to render fine with the ICEpdf Pro font library.

Other pricing models are available. I received your inquiry and will respond to you via email to discuss further.

The open source product with font substitution is used by many under open source. This product is royalty free and not useless as you put it.

We sell commercial versions so we can fund the existence of our open source products that are used by tens of thousands of developers, mostly for free.

A deployment based pricing model is very common and not strange at all. The published subscription packages may not satisfy your needs so let's discuss what does make sense.

Most ICEfaces applications are not public facing.

The Institute for Quantitative Social Science at Harvard University site uses ICEfaces.

Thanks for purchasing an EE Basic Subscription. Access to the EE download should be almost instantaneous after purchase, but for some reason there was a problem with your transaction. Log out and then log back in to ICEfaces.org, and you should now have access to ICEfaces EE downloads. I will get someone to confirm your ICEfaces EE (ICEpack) wiki access.
