Hello,

ICEfaces v1.6.0 DR#2 doesn't support the Tomahawk components completely yet. We're targeting that for the next drop which will hopefully occur prior to Easter weekend (April 6th).

Regards,
Ken

The JIRA has been created: http://jira.icefaces.org/browse/ICE-1352

...and the issue has been resolved on the 1.6 trunk.

Thanks Tony!
Please see the related announcement post for details.
There is a new ICEfaces / Seam Component Showcase sample application bundle available on the Development Builds download page that demonstrates all of the ICEfaces Component Suite components running in a JBoss Seam application.

The bundle includes:
  • UsingICEfacesWithSeam.html - Essential instructions on how to configure a Seam application to work with ICEfaces.

  • seam-comp-showcase.ear - A self-contained executable sample application that demonstrates all of the ICEfaces Component Suite components running in a JBoss Seam application. Based on the ICEfaces 1.6.0 DR#2 and the JBoss Seam 1.1.6 releases.

  • The complete source-code for the sample application is also included in the bundle to use as a reference.
Please review the included ReadMe.html file for important information.
ICEfaces v1.6.0 DR#2 is a Development Build that provides an early-access preview of new features, enhancements, and fixes that will be included in the upcoming ICEfaces v1.6.0 release. This build has only been lightly tested and should be considered unstable.

Major improvements include support for Facelets ui:include (dynamic include) and improved support for using ICEfaces with JBoss Seam applications. Please read the ReleaseNotes.html included in the release bundle for details on new features, known issues, and other notes.

See the JIRA Change Log for the complete list of new features and fixes included in this release.

If you have comments, suggestions, or problems related to using the Development Build please post them in the new Development Build Feedback forum.

Guys,

Unfortunately, Seam 1.2 changed some of the Seam APIs that we use in a non-backward compatible fashion. As of now ICEfaces will not work with Seam 1.2.

Seam 1.1.6 is the recommended version to use with ICEfaces.

We'll be supporting Seam 1.2 prior to ICEfaces 1.6 going final.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards,
Ken
Jeroen,

The icefaces-facelets.jar is included in the ICEfaces distribution. This jar is a slightly customized version of the standard facelets.jar with a few required changes to make ICEfaces work with Facelets.

Note that we are working with the Facelets project to get our required changes integrated into the official facelets releases so at some point in the future we won't require the icefaces-facelets.jar at all.

Regards,
Ken
Carl,

We're planning something along those lines with regard to a public sandbox repository for sharing community code, etc. It's going to take us some time to finalize these plans, however.

In the meantime, if you'd like to contribute your subform component to ICEfaces please see the instructions here:

http://www.icefaces.org/main/community/contribute.iface

For legal/licensing reasons we can't accept code contributions directly form the forums, etc. but only through the process described.

Thanks!

Ken
The JIRA for this issue is: http://jira.icefaces.org/browse/ICE-1304

We'll try to cut it in to 1.6 DR#2.

Thanks,
Ken
There have been several posts recently asking about the ICEfaces roadmap, whether a particular bug or feature will be fixed soon, etc.

I wanted to make everyone aware that the best place to get this type of information is from the ICEfaces JIRA issue tracker: http://jira.icefaces.org/

Using JIRA you can readily view the product roadmap in terms of which issues are scheduled for which upcoming releases (see "Roadmap" under the "Browse Project" menu). In addition, you can search to see if a bug or feature request you have is already present in the system. If not, you can create a new JIRA issue for it. If it is present, you can vote for it to indicate your personal priority for having the issue resolved. Going forward we will use community votes as one indicator of demand/need during roadmap planning.

Please consult the JIRA early and often! :)

Regards,
Ken

FYI: Any early access drop with Ajax push functional in Seam should be available next week (1.6 DR#2).

The ICEfaces 1.6.0 DR#1 release has a very rough demo of it in the Component Showcase sample app. We'll be improving this for the official release.

Regards,
Ken
Thanks Tony, we'll look into it.

I just wanted to say thank-you for all your work/testing/bug reporting, etc. with ICEfaces/Seam in the last while, it's greatly appreciated!

FYI: We're planning a 1.6.0 DR2 drop late next week that should include many additional Seam related fixes.

Regards,
Ken
The URL text on the SVN page was missing the "/repo" at the end. The actual link was fine, but the text is correct now also.

http://anonsvn.icefaces.org/repo

...should work fine for you.

Regards,
Ken
We're hoping to have Glassfish support in 1.6 for Facelets only, but won't know for sure until later in March.

Full JSF 1.2 JSP support is a 2.0 feature, likely late Q2 or Q3.
